Mission Viejo Elementary School is proud to host our 20th Annual Veterans Day Celebration. We warmly invite veterans from our school family and community to join us for this special event. Please feel free to invite neighbors, friends, and family members.

While Memorial Day honors those who gave their lives in service, on Veterans Day we recognize and thank those who served and returned home.

Tentative Agenda

7:45–8:15 amBreakfast in the art room (for veterans only)
8:15–8:30 amParade of veterans
8:30–9:10 amStudent assembly in the gym
9:15–10:00 amBrunch and fellowship in the cafeteria (for veterans only)

You may attend as much or as little of the program as you prefer. The student tribute will be unforgettable, and your presence will make this day especially meaningful. Veterans are welcome to wear uniforms or bring items to share with students.

Please DO NOT bring any weapons, real or replica.

Important Details

  • If you plan to join us for breakfast, please plan extra time for parking and entering the building, as morning drop-off for students is 7:35–8:00 am. Doors for veterans will open at 7:45 am with signs posted.
  • RSVP by Monday, November 2, to Eric Cline at clinecellars57@gmail.com or 720-839-4289 (call or text) so we can plan meals, seating, and a special surprise.
  • During the month of November, we will also display our Wall of Honor. Please send photos to szimmerman4@cherrycreekschools.org or drop them off at Mission Viejo Elementary. If you would like your photos returned, please include return information.
  • Each year’s celebration is dedicated to a person or organization, and we look forward to unveiling this year’s dedication.

Mission Viejo Elementary, Colorado’s first designated Purple Heart School, is seeking sponsors to help cover this year’s event without placing a financial burden on the school and its staff. The celebration features a heroes’ parade, Quilts of Valor presentations, music from the student choir, colors posted by the Rocky Mountain Honor Guard, presentations by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and a special visit from Maggie the bald eagle. Over 45 local veterans, their families, and community members are expected.

Contributions help pay for challenge coins, morning and near-noon refreshments, and Maggie’s visit. Sponsorship tiers:
